Weinlese in Wachau cultural landscape – World Heritage

November 29th, 2012 | admin

Wine growing has been important to the villagers for as long as people can remember. It dates back to the Celts who lived here in pre-Roman times. Real work begins in October during the „Weinlese“. The Bauer family has started the harvest. They check every bunch of grapes. The grapes are picked and taken to the cooperative where they will be pressed. They are left to ferment and then it is time to say „cheers“. Officially designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, this site is to be safeguarded for the future as a testimony to its enduring past. The 26-part tv-series HERITAGE SITES of the WORLD is available in Dutch and English. Looking for broadcast footage? Please contact www.stockshot.nl ©
