Cycling In Chianti Tuscany Bike Tours
November 29th, 2012 | admin
The second part of the day out with Tuscany Bike Tours is cycling! After the tour of the castle, you are fitted for a bicycle and helmet. There’s a short safety briefing and an explanation of the gears and then it’s off. Starting along the tree-lined avenue, there are breaks along the way for photos including some spectacular views and before you know it, it’s time for lunch. After salad, pasta, ice cream (or fruit!) and coffee and a chat, it’s time to get going again. The route is along the valley floor, with vines on the left and woods and open farmland on the right. When you’ve had your fill of scenery there is the optional hill climb. It’s a tough one, even for seasoned cyclists but you can always go up the the van with the bike on a trailer! Finally, after a pause at the cafe at the top of the hill, it’s a 20 minute gentle ride back to the castle. Phew!
